The Dog Lovers of Boston Manor Park

I, like most of my family, have never owned a dog, or even any pets. We’re just not a pet family. But I’ve long been curious as to the relationship between owner and dog, and as we are now at peak dog, I thought it might be an interesting project to photograph. I came to this project on the back of 17 Years An Outdoor Smoker which was not only physically tough because of the amount of walking involved, but emotionally tough too because of a near 75% rejection rate. The Dog Lovers of BMP, however, could not have been more different or easier. The dog owners were relaxed, friendly and happy to be photographed. The rejection rate a measly 5%. This project is also about the changing urban park landscape, an innocuous small section of park that reveals a wild flowering meadow in spring and the M4 flyover in winter. The aim was 50 pictures over the course of a year, roughly one a week. Here are 10.
